Halloween isn't over in St. Louis
until you take your kids to
The Great Candy Exchange!

Sponsored by the Delta Dental Health Theatre.


 
The Great Candy Exchange is a FREE event where kids get
one more chance to wear their costumes, win great prizes,
donate their leftover Halloween Candy to our troops.


The Great Candy Exchange will be held Friday, November 1st
 Vetta Sports Soccerdome in Webster Groves.
 
 Kids can turn in unopened Halloween candy in
exchange for chances to win a variety of great
prizes that encourage healthy habits and active play.

All candy collected is sent to our troops (along with toothbrushes!)
through A Soldier’s Wish List, and kids who attend this high-energy
event will get to see live shows, bounce on inflatables,
wear their costume one last time for the costume contest,
enjoy healthy snacks, and even make friends with characters like
the Tooth Fairy, Tooth Wizard,
and Sir Smiles-A-Lot.

There will also be face painting, balloon art, a photo booth,
healthy snacks, and a meet & greet with the St. Louis Ambush!

Holiday Express Train

 



The Kansas City Southern Railway’s “Holiday Express” train will be
 making a stop at Union Station in St. Louis on
 
Saturday, December 14th from 1:30-7:30 pm.
 
There’s no charge to come out and see.
 
The Holiday Express is in its 13th year of bringing smiles along the rail lines.
 
In addition, KCS employees and sponsors donate money for gift cards to be given to local Salvation Army units at tour stops.
The purpose is to buy winter clothing for children in need.

Haunted Hayloft at Purina Farms

For a not-so-scary, family-friendly Halloween event, hit the hay in the Haunted Hayloft at Purina Farms. Activities will appeal to visitors of all ages, and include a costume contest, puppet shows, storytelling, trick or treating, pumpkin painting, and magic – not to mention the fun of seeing the many animals on the farm.

Haunted Hayloft will be held over two weekends, October 18, 19 and 20, and October 25, 26, and 27. Hours are 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Sundays. The event is free to attend, but you’ll need to make reservations by calling (314) 982-3232.

Halloween Free Family Day at the Contemporary Art Museum

Want to get your little ghosts and goblins excited about modern art? Then take them to Halloween Free Family Day at the Contemporary Art Museum. On Saturday, October 26th at 1:00 p.m., families are invited to CAM to tour current exhibitions and enjoy face painting, storytelling, music and dance performances, and a wide range of artist-led workshops.

And don’t forget to dress in your Halloween best – all visitors who arrive in costume will be entered to win a special prize. For more details, visit www.camstl.org.

October Owls and Orchids at the Butterfly House (and the Booterflies Halloween Party)

Have a little one with a fear of Halloween? Now through October 31st, try celebrating the season with October Owls and Orchids at The Butterfly House. More than a thousand owl butterflies will peer through the petals of hundreds of blooming orchids, creating an eerie sight that’s perfect for the month of October – and kids who don’t like monsters.

If you’re looking for a bigger Halloween bash at The Butterfly House, then the Booterflies Halloween Party is the event for you. From 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. on October 25, 26, and 27, kids ages 2-12 (with their families) can wear their Halloween costumes, go on a glow walk and trick-or-treat through the garden, play insect-inspired games, and enjoy lots of “spook”-tacular activities. The cost for this event is $15 for children and $20 for adults.

 Chesterfield Arts’ pumpkin decorating design workshop registration opens at 1:30pm for the first 200 children.

Boo at the Zoo

Come explore the Zoo after dark during the special Halloween evenings: Boo at the Zoo Nights! This non-scary, kid-friendly Halloween experience is filled with laughs and adventure. Children are encouraged to wear costumes. Children 12-and-under will receive a treat bag upon exiting. Boo at the Zoo Nights is not a trick-or-treating experience.

  • $4/member; $5/non-member; children under 2 are free; $1 discount for children 2 to 12 in costume

There are plenty of photo opportunities including haystacks, pumpkins, and of course, our animals! It is a safe Halloween event all ghouls and goblins are sure to enjoy.

It's the Not-So-Haunted House that is oh-so-fun! Kids of all ages are invited to dress in their most "boo-tiful" Halloween costumes and have a ghoulishly good time trick-or-treating and getting autographs from their favorite storybook characters. This year's Halloween event will include a special visit from more than 15 storybook characters from favorite children's tales such as The Wizard of Oz, Harry Potter, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland and more.

Each child attending this "spooktacular" event will receive a trick-or-treat bag and an autograph book for the not-so-spooky characters to sign as they trick-or-treat throughout four levels of the more than 100-year-old Not-So-Haunted House. While the Not-So-Haunted House won't be scary, our Electro-Static Generator will make your hair stand on end!
Cost:Free with regular Museum admission.

1.  ECKERTS  is a year-round destination for anyone living in or near St. Louis.  You'll find any size pumpkin you need at the Eckert's locations in Belleville, Millstadt and Grafton. Eckert's also hosts haunted hayrides, bonfires, pumpkin parties and more.
Belleville location is open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Millstadt location is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Grafton location is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
2.  ROMBACKS FARM  is a great spot located in St. Louis County.  Open daily in October from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m, located at 18639 Olive Street Road in Chesterfield, near Spirit of St. Louis Airport. 
3.  STUCKMEYERS  is a family owned vegetable farm that's been around for decades. The pumpkin patch is open every day in October, but if you go on a weekend in October you can also enjoy Farm Fun Days. This event features hayrides, farm animals, pony rides, live music and more. Stuckmeyer's is located at the intersecton of Highways 141 and 21 in Fenton. For more information, call 636-349-1225.
4.  THEIS FARM AND GREENHOUSE has two locations, North Hanley Road and in Maryland Heights.  Both locations are transformed into a "Pumpkinland" play area for children. Pumpkinland is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  For more information, call 314-428-9878.
5.  SULLIVAN FARMS located in Florissant, where there are plenty of pumpkins growing. Take a free ride to the pumpkin patch.  Sullivan Farms also has a variety of gourds, squash and baked goods. Plus, kids will enjoy a trip through the straw castle maze. Sullivan Farms is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. It's located at 16704 New Halls Ferry Road in Florissant. 6.  HERMAN'S FARM ORCHARD is located in St. Charles on North Highway 94.   You can pick your own pumpkins, choose from a variety of hearty mums or shop in the market.
